The LOMS and LAMS bands are the premier middle school music programs on the Central Coast. 

About the LOMS Band:
​Almost 1 in 4 students at LOMS are currently enrolled in the band program. The advanced band posted unanimous superiors at the Cal Poly Wind Festival in 2025. This band has performed at Disneyland, Universal Studios, and Knott's Berry Farm over the past three years. 

The LOMS band begins in 6th grade, but students at any grade level are welcome to join the program. In 6th grade, students split their 6th period between band and PE. All 6th grade band students meet on Monday and then are either in a Tues/Thurs or a Wed/Fri cohort.

In 7th and 8th grade, students are placed either in LOMS Intermediate Band or the LOMS Advanced Band. Students must be placed into the advanced band through an audition or demonstrating musical excellence the year prior. The LOMS band is still determining where they will be traveling next year, but they will likely compete in a new festival in 2026. 

About the Laguna Band:

Despite being a 7/8 only program, the Laguna is just as high achieving as the LOMS band. The Laguna ensembles consistently posts superiors at festivals year after year. Laguna band program had 30 students make the county honor band each of the last three years. This is by far the highest representation of any middle school in the county. LAMS has also had 3 musicians make the all-state band in the last two years.

Because the LAMS band program begins in 7th grade, students can immediately be placed into the advanced band upon audition or approval from Mr. Kutch. The Laguna band has performed at Disneyland, Universal Studios, and Knott's Berry farm over the last three years. The advanced band will be going on a trip to Disneyland in 2026. The band will likely add a new festival to their calendar in 2026.
